From the Principal
Dear Families,
This week we have celebrated the amazing Educational Support we have in our school. From Helen as our Business Manager, to Shannon in Administration, to all the wonderful LSOs who work in our homerooms, we are so fortunate to have such excellent staff working with our students.
We have been so proud of our 3/4 and 5/6 students this week for the way they have conducted themselves at Hooptime. Not only have they shown great skills, they have had lots of fun and displayed exceptional sportsmanship.
We have also been so pleased with the way those homerooms that have had to move classrooms have gone about this. The children have been very helpful and patient with the process. We hope that the new rooms are handed over to us some time next week and then we can plan for a ceremony to open the building!
Have a lovely weekend, shared with those you love,
Terrielynn

Prayers
Please keep members of our school community in your thoughts and prayers as they face some serious health issues. In particular we pray for the Tarrant family, as Chris continues to battle serious illness.
We also wrap our arms around staff member Lindy Cullinane and her family. Lindy's dad died peacefully on Father's Day and is remembered as a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
First Eucharist
Today the Sacramental children participated in a First Eucharist Workshop at St Mary's Church from 9.30am until 11am. The Sacrament of First Eucharist will be celebrated on Sunday 8th September at the 10.30am Mass. Everyone is welcome! We congratulate all the children who are receiving the sacrament over the coming weeks.

School Wide Positive Behaviours
School Wide Positive Behaviour Support is: A multi-tiered framework for establishing the social culture and behavioural supports needed for a school to achieve behavioural and academic outcomes for all students.
For the next two weeks at St Mary’s we are working with our students on the following:
RESPECT - ensure the way you speak is appropriate
SAFETY - look out for others on the yard
RESPONSIBILITY - follow the school values and expectations

Sports Catch Up
Grade 3-4 Hooptime
We had 45 eager Grade 3-4 students who went to HILAC to play in the Grade 3-4 Hooptime tournament on Tuesday.
Plenty of smiles were had, and it was a great opportunity for our students to participate, even if they haven't played basketball before!
We had 3 teams make Grand Finals (All Star Girls, All Star Boys and Future Stars). Our All Star Girls team was successful, with our other teams just coming up short.
A huge thank you to all families who assisted with scoring and supporting our students. A thank you also to Siana Causer and Woolworths for their donation of fresh fruit and water for our students.
Grade 5-6 Hooptime
The Grade 5-6 Hooptime was held today at HILAC. Photos and a report of the day will be in next week's newsletter.
Division Table Tennis
Thank you to those students and families who have expressed interest in this event. I am currently working through organising this day, and will send you home more information shortly.
Saturday Morning Netball - Term 4
It has been tricky, but we finally have good news on the Saturday Morning Netball front! We are fielding 3 teams in the Grade 3-4 competition and 2 teams in the Grade 5-6 competition.
I would like to thank those families who have put their hand up to coach or umpire our teams for the upcoming season. With your support, we have been able to field teams of about 8-9 students, which maximises the court time for all, rather than larger teams of 12-13.
I understand it is a huge effort to commit to these roles, but it also benefits our students for their love and development of the game.
I sent a note home last week with the teams, coaches and umpires for you to look at. Your child has also brought a note home about ‘Media Consent’ and a ‘Medical Consent’ form. These need to be returned to school before your child takes the court. Thank you.
Grade 5-6 Swimming Program - Term 4
The Grade 5-6 Swimming Program will be held in the first week of Term 4 (Monday 7th October - Friday 11th October). Your child has received a note outlining everything that you need to know about the program. You will have also received a blue note. The blue note needs to be filled out completely, as this is classified as a high risk activity. Please ensure that they are returned by Friday 13th September. Thank you.
Fitness Laps - Bec Sherlock

Child Safety
On Thursday 12th September, it is 'R U OK Day'. We will mark this day at school by inviting all students and staff to wear a touch of yellow, for a gold coin donation, which will be donated to WDHS Youth Services. Our SRC felt that this was where they would like to donate the money to. On this day, we will be talking about how important it is to check in with our friends to make sure they are OK. We will also talk about who we can talk to, if we are not feeling OK.
SchoolTV has a Special Report that discusses R U OK Day. You can check this report out, via the link below.
