From the Principal
Dear Families,
This week, it has been our pleasure to welcome the Review Panel to our school. We have shared in a most affirming and dynamic process, that has celebrated the last five years of hard work at our school, identified our challenges and set goals and actions for the next five years. On many occasions over the last two days, I have been overwhelmed by deep pride and enormous love for our school and the beautiful people in it. I truly have the best job in the world! We look forward to sharing our goals with you in the near future.
Have a wonderful weekend, shared with those you love,
Terrielynn

Sports Catch Up
Grade 3-4 and Grade 5-6 Hooptime
It feels like it has taken an eternity, but finally, I have sent home the Hooptime teams for both the Grade 3-4 and 5-6 days. Your child will have brought home a note recently outlining the information for the day. Creating the teams takes plenty of time and consideration, particularly to ensure that all students are playing at a standard that best suits each child, as well as enjoyment of the event.
We have got scorers for every team now! Thank you to everyone who has put their hand up to support this!
If you are dropping off or picking up your child from HILAC on the day, can you please return the slip at the bottom of the note. With the competition starting early in the morning, we cannot be waiting at school for students and calling families to find out where they are. Your help with this is greatly appreciated!
Melbourne Renegades Cricket Clinic
A large group of Grade 3-6 students participated in a cricket clinic at Monivae yesterday. We were fortunate to have a meet and greet with Melbourne Renegades player, Georgia Prestwidge. Our kids loved asking her questions and each student took home a signed ball from her. Our students also were involved in some skill based activities, which were enjoyed by all!
Division Table Tennis
This event will be held at the Warrnambool Table Tennis centre on Friday 13th September. If your child is interested in playing, could you please email or send me a message on Seesaw. Families will be responsible for transporting their child to the event on the day.
Saturday Morning Netball - Term 4
Thank you for your promptness in returning the slip for Saturday Morning Netball. Our Grade 3-4 teams are ready to go, and I thank everyone who has put their hand up to coach and umpire our teams. I will pass on more information shortly to you.
I am requiring one (perhaps 2 umpires) for our Grade 5-6 teams. Without an umpire, we will not be able to field teams in this competition. You do not need to have a badge, just a basic understanding of the rules of netball. If you are able to help out, or know someone who can help, can you get in contact with me ASAP. Team nominations are due, and I can’t submit a team without an umpire. Thank you.
Grade 5-6 Swimming Program - Term 4
The Grade 5-6 Swimming Program will be held in the first week of Term 4 (Monday 7th October - Friday 11th October). Your child will be receiving a note outlining everything that you need to know about the program. You will also receive a blue note. The blue note needs to be filled out completely, as this is classified as a high risk activity. Please ensure that they are returned by Friday 13th September. Thank you.
Fitness Laps - Bec Sherlock
50 laps | Lily Kuilboer, Tahlia Fitzsimmons, Levi White, Nemo Kenny and Zack Trotter. |
100 laps | Darcy Walsh, Marcus McRae, Riley Lucas, Rhys Jackson, Oscar Mansbridge, Anya Roll, Marlee Brown, Sienna Gordon, Jacob Alex Kavil, Claire Mandiringana and Jaxon Wilson-Watt. |

Garden Gurus
We had Ollie and Xav, two of our Sustainability Leaders working with some Grade 3/4 students yesterday. The students made seed packets with Lyn and Nola. Today was all about harvesting! The Garden is looking great, with everything thriving in their food pods.

Wellbeing
Child Safety
As it is Book Week this week, it is approriate to draw your attention to a book series that is gaining popularity on Tik Tok and is available to buy off the shelf at any of the major retailers. These books (if judging a book by its cover) look to be innocent enough books, in the style of a high school romance. However, they are very sexually explicit in their content and they are rated as 18+ on the 'Common Sense Media' website (an excellent site to refer to if you are unsure of the suitablity of content for your child in regards to all types of media). These books are definitely not appropriate for primary school children. I have included pictures of the covers of these books for your reference.

Change of Pick Up
If you are needing to change the arrangement of how your child is getting home, please ensure this is done by 1:30pm. We cannot guarantee being able to pass messages on close to the end of the day, due to the influx of phone calls and messages.
Building update
The two new classrooms are almost finished, we are waiting on the ceiling lights - these will be here on Monday 2nd September. Watch this space...
