On Sunday 16th February, we celebrated our Opening School Mass at St Mary's Church. As well as giving thanks for the new school year, we also celebrated our new student leaders. These Grade 6 students were presented with their badges. They are already showing what a great leadership group they are. Well done!
On Friday 28th Febrauary, our whole school took part in Clean Up Australia Day for Schools. Led beautifully by our Sustainability Leaders and w ith everyone helping, we managed to pick up lots of rubbish. There was rubbish that had clearly blown into our yard from other places, but there were also lots of food wrappers that are now safely where they need to be – not in nature or in our waterways, but in landfill.
On Tuesday 4th March, the whole school enjoyed learning about the significance of Shrove Tuesday, as well as having the chance to have some yummy pancakes! The next day, the whole school headed off to St Mary's Church for the Ash Wednesday Mass to mark the beginning of the Church season of Lent.

On Thursday 6th March, we headed up to Monivae to take part in our annual Athletics Carnival. What an incredible day we had! Fantastic displays of sportsmanship, excellent sporting skills, amazing encouragement and wonderful support! Together we provided all our students the chance to compete in a competitive, yet supportive environment. Well done to our Age Champions, Loreto and to everyone who showed good sportsmanship, tried their hardest and had fun!

We had 46 athletes compete in the District Athletics on Thursay 20th March. We had a great day on the track, with many top 5 finishes, and an equally impressive day on the field, with lots of ribbons adorning our school tent. Thank you to the students who represented St Mary’s terrifically and displayed brilliant sportsmanship. It was a damp and unpredictable day, but it didn’t stop us from trying our hardest and giving our events 110%! We are all incredibly proud of your efforts.
Harmony Day is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. Today, we wore orange to show our support of Harmony Day. The message that ‘everyone belongs’ is a message that can be lived by each of us, every day.
Our School Cross Country was a wonderful event on Friday 28th March! A huge thank you to everyone who came to cheer on our students, especially to those people who sat on a checkpoint throughout the day. It was a warm day, but the students all did a fabulous job! Congratulations to our top 3 placegetters for each age group.
